Although there has never been a drug or treatment found to be effective for the treatment of DMG/DIPG, nor has there been change of 5 survival rates in the past 50 years, there has been progress. We are deeply grateful to those doctors and scientists who dedicate their lives to pediatric brain tumor cancer research. There have been many scientific discoveries in the past decade that will hopefully lead to a DMG/DIPG breakthrough and ultimately a cure. Notably, the mutations that drive DMG tumors have been discovered. Also, CAR-T immunotherapy is a newer area of research which gives families hope.
